Champion Mindset Interviews
Journal Entry 9.23.2021
This past weekend I interviewed NCHA Hall of Fame rider, Kathy Daughn. With NCHA earnings in excess of $4 million, Kathy Daughn is a Hall of Fame Rider and an Honoree in the prestigious, National Cowgirl Hall of Fame. She is the only woman to win two NCHA Futurity championship titles and renown for her leadership in training individuals and horses. Her commitment to the National Cutting Horse Association is evident and her passion for the sport unmatched.
I owe my knowledge about cow horses (any horse that works cattle) as well as performance horses to Kathy. She has been a phenomenal mentor and supporter. With her no-nonsense style matched by an unwavering commitment to eliciting the best in people and horses, she taught me the essence of making the horse's job, the horse's responsibility.
From Kathy, “To me, cutting is the greatest equine sport. The trick is, these horses have to learn how to outsmart a cow and simultaneously allow the rider to give directions, all without breaking their concen- tration. Developing that innate talent is my passion.”
